Looking down form the top at Cataloochee Ski Slopes-North Carolina.  Cataloochee is the highest and southernmost developed ski area in eastern America.  At 5000 feet a truly alpine feeling prevades this winter wonderland in the Great Smokies.  13 miles west of Waynesville, N.C. and 40 miles west of Ashevile;  3 miles off U.S. 19 above Maggie Valley, North Carolina.   Cataloochie Ski Area - Above Maggie Valley, North Carolina.  Spectacular view from the High Meadow Run, the only open mountain skiing in the East.  Unlimited cross-country terrain for both the advanced and novice skier.  Altitude 5400 feet served by Double Chairlift.
