Whittier in West Ossipee, NH was a popular and unique area.  It was one of a very few major ski areas that never had a chair lift.  Whittier did have a Gondola, however.  The Gondola's base was across route 16.  It's base gondola station is still there as well as some towers.  Interestingly enough, the towers are in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant.  I stopped at the base station, which is now a gift shop, and the mountain last year on my way to Cranmore.  At that time, the owners were attempting to get a tubing park off the ground.  It was early March and they still had not opened for business.  The pictures above were taken on that day.  Notice the hand written signs for the tubing park and the notice of the delay of opening.
